August 9, 2015 -- Dogwood Project - Bearden High School [From Buddy Heins]

Dear Classmates. No, it’s not time for another reunion! We're hoping most of your e-mail addresses still work because we have a great project underway.

Doug Harris and I have volunteered our class to sponsor a landscaping project at Bearden High School. We’re going to plant 78 dogwoods on the Bearden campus this fall, as well as renovate the old smoking pit. We’d like to raise a little money to pay for the trees and other plant material. The trees will cost $25 each, which includes delivery, planting, etc. I’d like to challenge everyone to buy a tree. Any excess funds will go to help maintaining our sign at the school. The sign is still an iconic image at the school that has stood the test of time and is still the most widely recognized class gift on campus.

Checks can be made to “Bearden HS Class of 78,” and my address is below. We also have a GoFundMe site set up by Doug Harris to make donating even easier. Thank you for your support! The Class of 78 remains the best class ever at Bearden!

January 31, 2015 -- Here is some sad news recently received from Ward McMillan on our class Facebook page - "Just to give you guys a heads up, my sister Katrina McMillan passed away this past year. I was looking to track down some people to inform, and was directed here." RIP, Trinky!

February 6, 2014 -- Yet another piece of bad news. Our classmate Jamey Kerr died on March 11, 2014. If you would like to view and/or sign his guestbook, please do so at Obituary for Jamey.

February 9, 2014 -- And now for some good news in an announcement, here is a wonderful article about our classmate Rick Hirschhaut in the Chicago Tribune, "Rick Hirschhaut's 'bittersweet' farewell." Job well done, Rick!

February 6, 2014 -- Well, I have yet another piece of bad news. Our classmate Keith Prine died in a tragic accident on February 3, 2014. If you would like to view and/or sign his guestbook, please do so at Obituary for Keith.

January 13, 2014 -- I am sorry to report that our classmate Brett Payne passed away on January 11, 2014. If you would like to view and/or sign his guestbook, please do so at Obituary for Brett.

April 28, 2013 -- Hello everyone. Remember, we have a Bearden High School Class of 1978 page on Facebook, and I have been trying to make as many classmates as possible aware of our 35-year reunion next summer. If you are not sure whether we have good contact information for you, please go to the Bearden High School Foundation web site and make sure your alumni information is up-to-date. We would love for this to be the best reunion yet, so spread the word.

Take care!

January 31, 2013 -- Message from Buddy Heins.

Our sign campaign has gone very well. We’ve raised about $2000. We still need more. Our sign has stood the test of time (for 35 years anyway). We need to completely rebuild it. We need to raise about $4000. We’d like to get all the work completed before our reunion this summer, which is planned for July 27 at Concord Marina in Knoxville.

Listed below are the classmates who have donated to the sign. You can mail your contribution to me at:
